Hello friends and family! This year in lieu of the Kayak-a-thon this year, All Out Adventures is doing a Virtual Challenge where people of all abilities can set a goal for the day to challenge themselves to do an outdoor activity. The awesome thing about a challenge is that it calls us to go beyond our comfort zone whatever that means to an individual.

This year during the pandemic I set a goal on my 51st birthday on June 5th to hike up Greylock 51 times before the snow flies. As I write this I have hiked up 27 times. So on Septemeber 13th I will again hike up Greylock and meet with others on the mountain top to celebrate everyone's accomplishment no matter how they got to the summit. This year, it's more important than ever to come together as best we can to help uplift each other through these challenging times. Just like the light that glows on the War Memorial tower on Greylock every night, All Out Adventures is a beacon in many people's lives. I'm hiking to keep it going.

Typically each year, All Out Adventures holds the Kayak-a-thon, a signature fundraising event that raised close to $50,000 in support of free or low cost outdoor recreation programs for people with disabilities, seniors, and veterans in 2019.  Though the COVID-19 pandemic means we can't gather in person to paddle down the Connecticut River this year, we will be together in spirit and community in the AOA Virtual Challenge.  Every participant will name a challenge meaningful to them, and we will work together to fundraise and to build awareness and support for adaptive recreation programs.
